Jim Tedford: Strategic Planning for Leaders of Animal Groups

Jim Tedford is the Director of Animal Welfare Initiatives and Alliances for PetSafe. Jim is based in Tennessee, and will come to Michigan this fall to the MPAW-MAACO Animal Welfare Conference in Mt. Pleasant.

An organization’s ability to grow, develop, and achieve its mission depends upon its leaders’ ability to think and plan strategically. There are few, if any, not-for-profit organizations or municipal agencies that have all the resources they need to accomplish the good work they want to do. We can all use more money, more time, and more people to help us. And for most organizations, our ability to advance our mission is limited not by creativity, but by resources. Developing and following a well-written strategic plan is critical to make the most of limited resources for the biggest impact possible. Learn how to work smarter, not just harder, in this special two-part session presented by a highly-regarded animal welfare professional. Jim Tedford will be in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on Wednesday, October 29th, to present an all-afternoon session designed for leaders of animal groups and shelters small and large: “Strategic Planning for Long-Term Success.” Don’t miss it!

Working on the front lines of animal welfare for over 20 years, Jim has served as CEO for organizations in New York, Louisiana and Tennessee. Prior to joining PetSafe, he provided marketing and fundraising services to animal welfare organizations nationwide. Jim holds a degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He brings his strong background along with his open conversational approach to teaching to animal people across the nation at major conferences. Ted has been in the leader’s shoes, knows the challenges, and can help you learn to navigate strategic planning to use it to your  group’s advantage.
